Will Shulman

Will brings over 20 years of technology and entrepreneurial experience to mLab, having built innovative software platforms and products for a number of respected companies. Prior to mLab, Will was CTO and co-founder of Merced Systems, a high-growth enterprise analytics software company serving Global 2000 customers, acquired by NICE Systems for $170 million.

Will has overseen mLab's growth to over half a million MongoDB cloud deployments across AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google, including high-profile customers like Turner, Lyft and Whole Foods Market.

Will holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Jared Cottrell

Jared is a serial startuper with 20 years of experience at all stages of the startup lifecycle. As one of the early hires at Scient, he helped companies across the world embrace emerging technologies. Then at Merced, he built the company's ETL tools from the ground up and scaled Merced's flagship product to deliver timely, personalized reports to over 800,000 users worldwide.

Jared holds a S.B. and an M.Eng. in Computer Science from MIT.

Dane is passionate about technology, working in finance and operations roles in technology companies for over 20 years. He most recently was Vice President in various roles at ed-tech provider Blackboard, and prior to that was CFO of Xythos Software.

Dane holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Stanford University.

Angela Kung Shulman

Angela is a lover of databases and creating tools for the enterprise. She started her career as a software engineer at Oracle and since then, has spent over ten years playing both client services and product management roles at various software companies, including Scient and Merced Systems.

Angela holds an A.B. in Applied Mathematics for Computer Sciences from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Foundry Group is a venture capital firm focused on making investments in early-stage information technology, Internet and software startups. It works alongside entrepreneurs to give birth to new technologies and to build those technologies into industry-leading companies. The Foundry Group's investment activity is largely driven by a thematic approach reflecting a long-term cycle of innovation. In July 2015, it announced the closing of its fifth venture fund of $225m.

Baseline Ventures is a seed-stage capital firm founded by Steve Anderson in late 2006. Since inception Baseline has invested in more than 80 companies and helped more than 25 companies exit profitably for founders and investors alike. Baseline is a seed investor associated with acquired companies such as Instagram, Parakey, Heroku, ExactTarget, GoInstant, CoTweet, Crashlytics, GeoAPI, IndexTank, Rupture, Sendori, Versely, OMGPop, Xobni, Stackmob, Aardvark, DocVerse, Yardbarker, Cake Financial, and Hunch.

Upfront Ventures

Upfront Ventures was founded in 1996 with the mission to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals of building big, transformative businesses. Upfront invests in businesses that are technology-led, focusing on industries including digital media, consumer goods & services, commerce technology & marketplaces, and SAAS. Its current active fund is about $300m, typically funding companies at the Seed or Series A stage.

Freestyle Capital

Freestyle Capital is an early stage investor and mentor for internet software startups. Its community of veteran entrepreneurs offers real-world experience and business finesse without stuffy investor baggage or hidden agendas. The firm invests in twelve companies each year to make sure the companies get the time and attention they deserve. It has $126m under management across three funds and 65 companies and has started investing $60m from its current fund.

David Cohen of TechStars

David Cohen is a co-founder and Managing Partner of TechStars, the global ecosystem that helps entrepreneurs build great businesses. Previously, David was a founder of several software and web technology companies. He was the founder and CTO of Pinpoint Technologies, which was acquired by ZOLL Medical Corporation in 1999.
